Travel & Security Information

Your Safety is our Priority!

We take safety and security very seriously and keeping in mind the recent terrorist attacks and threats from international and indigenous groups in parts of Turkey, the Congress organizers are doing all in their power to provide a secure conference environment and a successful event.

Currently, there is no general travel advisory in place for Turkey. There are travel advisories in place for the Syrian Border as well as warnings to avoid large crowds and gatherings , especially in Istanbul and Ankara. On 9 April the U.S. Mission in Turkey issued an alert that there are credible threats to tourist areas, in particular to public squares and docks in Istanbul and Antalya.

Based on this, the organizers recommend participants of the GFFC and FEFAC Congresses, as well as the IFRM, keep in mind the following safety precautions:

  • Do not travel to south-eastern Turkey, particularly near the Syrian/Iraq border.
  • Stay away from large crowds of people especially at popular tourist destinations, including in Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya.
  • Stay away from tourist areas, especially public squares and docks in Istanbul and Antalya.
  • In general, exercise heightened vigilance and caution when visiting public access areas, especially those heavily frequented by tourists.
  • Stay away from political gatherings and rallies.

The GFFC Hotel & Congress venue is located in a guarded Hotel compound about 45 minutes away from Antalya airport and away from any public tourist destinations. Delegates will be picked up by the GFFC transfer service and transported directly to the GFFC Hotel and Congress venue.
