Sustainable Livestock Production: Contradiction between Industrial Farms, Family Farms and Consumers
RESUME
Dr. Türker Savaş completed his doctoral thesis at the University of Kiel in Germany in 1998. He was appointed as an assistant professor at the Department of Animal Science of Trakya University in 1999. He took the habilitation exam in 2000 and in 2001 he was appointed as an associate professor at the Department of Animal Science of the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. He became a professor of animal science in the same department in 2006, he is an expert in animal breeding, but he is also known for his studies in animal behavior, animal welfare and small ruminant production systems. He is the author and coauthor of more than 60 scientific articles. Dr. Savaş is an active member of the Environment Movement Platform of Çanakkale. He is also chairman of the Çanakkale branch of the Chamber of Agriculture Engineers. He can speak German very well, his English is moderate.
